This must be simple, but I am somehow missing it:
I want to record the voicemails my boyfriend left on my machine when he was drunk. They are hilarious, and I need them off my vm machine so it can take new messages.
I do not require high quality, just simplicity.
I'd like to have them as MP3's I think? So I could reach them in itunes?
I know I have some internal microphone (thought I'm not sure where)
What software should I use? or utility, or? um? garage band, imovie, or something even simpler? I feel there is a simple answer I am missing.

Re: stupid question of the day: recording sound
Fri, May 26, 2006 - 1:13 AMthere's a specific widget that you need -- you should post this on the OSX tribe or just do a search for "recording" in the threads. there was a whole discussion on this recently.

Re: stupid question of the day: recording sound
Wed, June 14, 2006 - 3:48 PMThe mic is that little hole on the right hand side of the screen cassing. It's between the top and the middle.
1)Pop open garageband.
2) Make a new track
3) Make sure you have it set up to record from the mic in garageband preferences.
4) And hit record with the laptop facing some sort of speaker.
If you have iLife '06 the export to iTunes thing is under the SHARE menu and it's called "Send song to iTunes".
If you have an older version I think it's under the file menu and it says "Export to iTunes".
Then you will have an aiff.
Convert that to an MP3. Presto.
Or you could buy the griffin iMic like I did...
